Hannah’s Story

Hannah had Bell’s palsy in June 2015. She developed some complications, such as synkinesis, contractures, pains and asymmetric smile. She came to our clinic in September 2016, looking for help to recover and to be able to smile again, in time for her wedding in October 2017. With hard work, motivation and guidance, Hannah was able to smile with confidence again!

Here is Hannah’s story.

Hannah’s comment during the first meeting:

“I have synkinesis in my right eye. It closes fully when I yawn and squints quite noticeably when I smile broadly and mildly when I eat and drink, too. I feel that my face, mouth and nose still pull to one side slightly when I speak, and I am sad that my smile is no longer symmetrical.

I also still have pain – mostly if I am touching my face, which makes it difficult to self-massage. Pain is worse at specific points – in the crease of a nostril, above the temple, just above the eyebrow at the centre of my face, middle of my cheek and side of the chin below the mouth (all on the right side obviously).”

Besides achieving great, visible results, Hannah gained confidence in her smile. On her wedding day, she could be happy and smile, without any fear of being in front of the cameras and in the centre of attention.

Below are the images of Hannah from the beginning of her recovery (number 1) and at the 4th visit (number 4).

After Hannah was discharged from the clinic in June 2017, as her rehabilitation was complete, Hannah wrote:

“I have had the most wonderful experience with the Crystal Touch Clinic! I discovered the clinic through some research last year after contracting Bell’s Palsy in July 2015 and never fully healing and being left with residual after-effects and synkinesis.

I made a total of 4 trips to the clinic in Rotterdam over a period of 10 months and each time, Elena, Alex and Jana welcomed me with open arms. The Crystal Touch techniques are innovative and specifically tailored to each individual case of Bells’ palsy. The team are realistic and positive in their predictions of how they can help you, and the massage treatment Elena does is amazing. Your recovery depends on how much work you are willing to commit to doing at home in between visits, so a positive attitude is a must and the team support you the whole way. I couldn’t be happier with the progress I have made so far and as I continue the massage and exercises at home, I know I am continuing to heal and improve still now, over 2 years after the onset of my Bell’s palsy. I wholeheartedly recommend visiting the Crystal Touch Clinic!”
