Rana’s Story

Rana got hit by Bell’s palsy in August 2014. At the time, she was a PhD student in Iran. Due to the residuals of the disease, she couldn’t concentrate on her studies. Rana was especially concerned about her little son, who began to mimic his mother’s asymmetric facial expressions.

After completion of a 9 month-long rehabilitation program and having visited Crystal Touch clinic at Rotterdam 4 times for her working sessions, Rana shares her experience in this story to inspire and give hope to other Bell’s palsy sufferers.

How it all started

“Dear Dr. Pashov,

I really appreciate your kind offer on the Bell’s palsy support group. I’ve been diagnosed with Bell’s palsy about 19 months ago (August 2014). I partly recovered but still have evident synkinesis while smiling, chewing and so on…

I live in Iran, and unfortunately couldn’t find a proper local solution for my problem here in Tehran. I’m a PhD student, and this Bell’s palsy has had a very intense effect on my concentration. Most of the time I wake up at midnight trying to smile and checking my face movement… But maybe the most miserable part of my case is my 5-year-old son who unconsciously imitates my way of asymmetric smiling and talking and this makes me very sad and anxious…

It was a very nice sign of hope for me while I was searching your clinic’s contact information today after reading your article redirected from Facebook, and decided to fill in the free assessment form on the website and dreaming of having a trip there.

I really need your help because I feel frustrated and tired of just searching and searching for a proper solution…

I attached photos of my face for your information. Thank you very much.

Hope that this meets you in the best of health,
Rana”

Visit 1: Rana’s intake and treatment session

27/05/2016

This is Rana’s intake interview with Crystal Touch during her first visit. Rana tells about who she is and about her history with Bell’s palsy.

The condition of Rana’s facial muscles and her recovery were recorded. The neurological tests were taken and the condition of her muscles was also measured electronically with an electromyogram (EMG). This is the objective measure and a starting point. Based on the results of these measures, our specialists compiled her individual Neuro-Proprioceptive Rehabilitation program. Also, at the end of Rana’s rehabilitation, these measures can be used to check her recovery progress.

“Dear Dr. Pashov,

I could find the most convincing and helpful experience of treatment since my Bell’s palsy out-break from two years ago here in Crystal Touch Clinic. Once there, you can quickly understand that it does worth coming all the way long from your country here to take help from the real specialists about Bell’s Palsy and the problems associated with a non-recovered facial paralysis.

They received me very warmly and friendly at the clinic, and once there, I could really feel at home! no more stress and anxiety while talking to both the Clinics specialists: Alex Pashov, to whom I had the chance to get acquainted with from the really scientific texts describing all the different aspects of this kind of facial paralysis on Facebook, conducted different types of Nerve Conduction Studies and measurements and assessed the whole situation of my face; and Dr. Elena Pashova, kindly received me as a friend; started to describe the basics of their Neuro-Proprioceptive facial Rehabilitation Method and started the treatments in 3 sessions for my face. The very first treatment, and I can’t still believe that the whole painful points on my chin and eyelids were totally gone!! I could feel so much relaxed while she was doing the treatment on my face that I really wished the time would be stopped for hours and hours so that I wouldn’t miss that wonderful feeling of calmness and relief….

I really look forward for my second appointment at the clinic, and of course, I will not sit idle just waiting for the good time, and meanwhile I am doing the very helpful exercises they taught me to be able to re-establish the balance between the two halves of my face.”

Rana has requested not to record her 2nd visit. To respect her privacy, we do not publish her records and comments from that time.

Visit 3: Rana’s results so far

09/09/2016

Rana took the first steps towards positive results and began to make noticeable changes.

“I felt relaxed in my face and vigorous in the whole body. I was drowsy after the first treatment day, but not after 2 others.

On the day of the procedure, I could feel the same on both sides; especially after the inside mouth massages. I felt the thickness of cheek muscles was the same on the two sides, but the next day again the affected side felt a little thicker than the other side.

In the next morning, I felt I could smile more naturally, completely normal appearance of my eyes and minimum synkinesis; and relaxed skin.”

In the video, Rana tells about her third visit and her progress. She has no pain in her face, she is much more confident in her facial expressions and her feelings about herself. Her smile is gradually becoming better. There is also a change noticeable in her affected eye. The movements are much less intense.

Rana has achieved great results by the end of her 3rd visit. The results became visible to everyone now. Below are Rana’s neurological tests during the third treatment. In just five months, Rana has made great progress in her recovery of Bell’s palsy complications.

This is the video of Rana’s full recovery story, including the testimonial from her last, 4th session. Rana shares her experience with the rehabilitation program, and the progress she achieved.

“I now feel more confident while facing with people, taking photos, teaching at the university, playing with my son, during family parties and so on, as everybody around me confirming that nobody can recognize the problem on my face while I’m talking or smiling!

Step by step, I learned to have more control of my face. So, for all these achievements, I strongly recommend for those of you who are searching for a safe and a wise solution for your facial problems to try this very kind atmosphere of Crystal Touch Clinic. And hopefully, you can reach your favorite achievements.”
